About

In trust and service of Victorians, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) works tirelessly twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, to protect life and property. FRV operates 85 fire stations across metropolitan Melbourne and in major regional centres.

We are proud to work with Country Fire Authority as part of a complementary fire service and with Victoria’s leading fire and emergency response agencies.

While there are clear fire district boundaries in place, the state’s firefighting resources are not bound to the distinction between city and country. Victorians, regardless of where they live, can rely on interagency cooperation to deliver the best fire and emergency service response.

FRV’s extensive operational capabilities extend far beyond structural firefighting. Highly trained firefighters respond to:

  • Emergency Medical Response (EMR) alongside Ambulance Victoria
  • High-angle, trench, and urban search and rescue (USAR) operations
  • Hazardous materials (HAZMAT) and marine responses
  • Hostile events and complex rescues

Utilising our world-class training, FRV continually prepares firefighters to meet the extraordinary challenges of Victoria's growing population and changing climate. FRV is embracing new technologies and ways of working to ensure safety is at the forefront of everything we do.

Victorians can rely on Fire Rescue Victoria to deliver the best fire and emergency response.
